Dearly Departed: Storytellers and Community Altar

It is said that the veil is thin in Autumn between our world and the world of those we’ve lost. We come together each October to celebrate our dearly departed loved ones; this year with music, storytelling and opening the Community Altar for all to remember.

Join us at the Hive on Friday October 25th at 6pm. A $5 ticket includes an LED candle to leave on the Altar in remembrance.

Threshold Singers will open the evening with the voices they bring to the bedside of the dying. Havilah Rand will share some of the stories in song she has written for elderly nursing home residents and Diana Blum will share the songs she wrote to celebrate her own grief over the loss of her husband. Between the music, Storytellers are invited to share their own experience with dying.

Please contact Erin at peacefulpresencedoulas@gmail.com if you’d like to share your story.

Loving, Dying and Letting Go

What does it mean to love? * What does it mean to die? * And how can we learn to “let go”?

Erin Collins RN BSN CHPN, offers a transformative and personal exploration of these questions in this one-day workshop, using experiential exercises, journaling, meditation and lecture.

The Loving, Dying, and Letting Go workshop is designed to create a safe space for heartfelt inquiry into these questions. People of all philosophies and faith traditions are warmly welcomed to gather together to listen, learn, and ~ most importantly ~ personally reflect upon the questions above. For those who have experienced grief due to death or the loss of an important relationship, for those who are caretaking or working with the bereaved, or for anyone wondering it means to face one’s own death, or the death of those we love ~ this workshop will be particularly moving/beneficial.

Loving, Dying, and Letting Go focus on key themes present in Amy Wright Glenn's second book Holding Space: On Loving, Dying, and Letting Go published by Parallax Press.
